What are phobias?
Phobias are specific fears that can range from fairly common ones such as snakes, heights or spiders to less common ones like a phobia of veins (venephobia) or mirrors (Eisoptrophobia). Analytical hypnotherapy can be useful in revealing the root cause of a phobia. This is important because the phobia is often not specifically related to the object of the phobia itself but instead to other underlying influences. These are most likely emotionally charged events that occurred at the point when the phobia was created.
Here is an article on phobias that I wrote for The Dunfermline Press.
If left unchallenged and untreated, phobias can begin to have a serious and negative impact on your life.
How can phobias be treated?
A typical treatment for phobias lasts around 4-6 sessions, however in some cases 2-3 sessions will suffice. Every client is different so my approach is flexible, not prescriptive.

The first session is fairly straightforward, I will need to make an assessment of your fear or phobia and it will give us an opportunity to get to know each other and build a rapport. You will also walk away with some tools to help you reduce your fear or phobia that you can start using immediately after the session.
The second session will depend on the progress made after the first session. It may be analytical in nature and focus on revealing the root cause of the problem, finding the real source of it. The core of an issue is usually held in the subconscious mind, which is hard to access unless one is in a state of hypnosis.
Any following sessions may be more practical in nature, so I may teach you how to use various techniques, including CBT combined with self-hypnosis and focused breathing so as to help you cope with your problem. I may also teach you standalone self-hypnosis as this gives you another tool that you can use long-term to reduce and eliminate your anxiety. It will also build on other techniques taught in the previous sessions. In addition, I may also focus on specific suggestion-therapy tailored to your needs. This will aid in the whole healing process and help to rebuild your confidence.
